I am Melissa Plimmer and I launched MAP Designs in 2012. Since training in Graphic Design at Staffordshire University in 2009 I have worked in both agency and in-house design teams. I quickly realised that there is a need in both small and larger organisations for graphic designers who can work in a flexible way, and MAP Designs grew from there.
I have a passion for design and dreamt of running my own business and my goal is to make MAP Designs the home of Graphic Design for Staffordshire. What I love most is to get to know my clients and their business and to help them develop both their brand and their business over time.
During the last three years I have developed a fantastic network of businesses, many of whom I now collaborate with to expand the services I offer. However I like to keep a tight rein on every project to make sure my clients are delighted with the outcome of their project.
Since launching MAP Designs my clients have ranged from small business start-ups to corporations and charities. Along with my collaborative colleagues we have created, logos, brochures, leaflets, invitations and posters for print, designed websites and provided digital design for social media graphics, Mailchimp templates and much more ….
My approach is to get to know my clients well, build relationships and create work that is unique to them. As I work in a flexible way, to suit each client, the approach can be tailored as appropriate. Where possible I believe that face to face communication can be valuable to the design process, but in this digital age other approaches can be just as useful.
Initially I will to talk to you direct to get to know you and your goals. Through questions and discussion we will agree in detail the brief for the project. Once agreed, this brief will focus on the core message that I need to communicate for you.
After researching your business sector and needs, the design process starts. I recognise that different clients have different needs so with some clients I will involve them throughout the process so that it becomes more of a collaborative effort and they don’t get any nasty surprises at the end of the process. Other clients will prefer a project managed approach and don’t want to be involved in each step.
Once the project is complete I like to have a formal sign-off process to make sure clients are delighted with the outcome. All work is stored so that additions and changes can be easily made in the future.
I like nothing more than communicating with prospects and clients. Please sign up to my newsletter for design and branding tips and to hear about any special offers and new services I introduce.
